1. 31. Linear Regression L1 [2021]
We started on the final topic of the syllabus, Correlation & Linear Regression. We picked up how to plot and intepret Scatter Plot diagrams and obtain the PMCC or 'r'-value (what is its range and what does it tell us?). Additionally, we generated the Least Squares Regression Line and used it to estimate results. How did we determine if the estimates were reliable? We looked at whether the line is appropriate (dependent vs independent variable) and whether the estimate was interpolated or extrapolated. Of course, a strong linear correlation would help too! Finally, we looked at linearising, which involved our skills from Linear Law from secondary school. Basic graphing skills are required here, be ready to identify the shape of the graph described, and describe accordingly (increasing/decreasing at a increasing/decreasing rate).
